Babelism

Babelism 03:12
Once in a lifetime You can see me in the clearing Disjunct attitude Leave a little room for the sirens in this locked cage Pick up, drain it, balls to the wall I’m a little sullen in this bright romance Take me from this place I used to be There’s something in this capstan, a darkness in me Your babelism Comets, ulcers, they’re all the same Curve it, turn it, you’re Amaze-On-Wheels Darkness in the summer – Someone’s in the master bedroom, better get them out Stick it, fuck it Pull it, drive it, you’re a maze on wheels I’m Amaze-On-Wheels I will strike these deals She is craving meals He is marking reels Someone’s in the private doorway Better suck them out, better get them out Better lock them out Stuck on solid footing You can feel me on the steering Unjust penchant worn Take a little hum from the starving in this locked room Rain down, pack it, stalls in the hall I’m a little boring in this old-time dance Take me from a place I used to be There’s nothing in my heart now, a sharpness to be Your babelism.
2.
Mackle 03:09
This road is feeble and dark It’s spitting out a line that creaks at the corners This path is overgrown and fiery Swinging on the hope that nothing will collapse here I’ve got martyrs hanging by their fingers Drums are calling, banging, begging Sure about nothing, we are stumbling I’ve got spackle, tackle, mackle on the floor I’ve got Pop Tarts and these spare parts Drums are picking, pissing, rewinding I’ve got to talk while we dust off I’ve got trickle, fickle, mackle on the floor It’s simple, you’ve got a dimple Singular pacing in a bubble It’s complex, got Tex Mex Ocular bird nest in the pocket Trouble, your stubble, you’ve got a double Sing for me Sing for me Sing for me I’ll stay in the backseat I’ll just stay back here I’ll just lay back here.
3.
Brick Wall 04:13
I watch as the cars line up You are binding to me in spite of it I perish inside a glass limousine There’s no sound and retrieval is bare Tear my soul apart with your claws It’s a ten-step magazine insert Take a test with me, make me want to see A movie that tells my story I don’t know what’s real I came in to peel back the layers I’m talking like steel and I’m here hitting the brick wall I stare at the pupil size It’s waning like devils in a dish And I’m serving you, I’m serving we It’s a twelve-step magazine prophet Rip and burgeon like dynasty wombs I’m collecting these tombs back home Make the rest with me, stir the rest for me We’ll be baking in here for hours I keep it tight when it matters You pick a fight when the stars align I’m turning back time Even though I can’t see you in there This is change I won’t spare.

Stellar 03:34
5.
Flipside 03:39
Daydreaming you away Always behind the lines wondering when it will be Hoping to find that happy place, you and I I never want to lose you, wouldn’t know what to say if you had me But I’d have a million words If you were mine Scared to cross the line, I need you So maybe it’s time to jump over to the other side I found you and you found me At last the good tales are here, keeps me wanting more Riding the fast lane, hear the sounds Lips to lips, we go into bliss Don’t ask me how I keep it together Mending the broken pieces, molding it into one Holding on to hope, I miss you more than anybody else I stand waiting and waiting for a reason to end the pain You come to me wanting to help until you realized it’s you That will keep me going and end the suffering We walk into the sunset with smiles Knowing we finished the problem We put the broken pieces into one, completing the jagged puzzle Content we stay as we wait for another day.
6.
Buy this ticket from me before it goes bad Take this little record from me before it goes stale A carpet steaming ghost wrapped into one of the walls Given the hour of a veil Lusting formations along the rail All of my feelings turn on like a spinning wheel Faint of heart, I must hit start Speeding away, hello new world After the drills are done, fading sun Give me a little time to collect this farce then call it your own Tell me there’s a catch or something Tell me there’s some words I can’t hear A ceiling painting by a drone I don’t see Given this hour I’ve tricked myself into believing All of my dreaming, catching that high Numbing the pain, living this lie Serving starvation, feeding a fix Live like I’m flying, bleed in to this.
7.
Worthless 04:42
Help me get through this I know we can make it New place, new start, the beginning never ends Until we face the finish line Hand in hand, together we stand Help us get through this I know we can float To the top we go, on and on, face to face the end Our story is finished, now is the time Sooner or later you’ll see Flying so high, time stands by the hourglass We give in to temptation and live happy in time The days are hard, the weeks are long You have me and I have you Underneath it all, we’re at each other’s necks Listen to us, this can’t be right I have you, but you’re out of sight Time and time again You’ve picked me up after the falls I’ll always be with you Hold me tight and never let me go I need you now, I know you need me too Don’t give up, we were meant to be So let forever start now.
8.
Cartography 02:45
Touch Touch Touch Hear the sound of guns Over the geography Touch Touch Give Watch little kids play Over cartography Hug Hug Kiss Tall as trees on your lawn Give me a warning Before you come Leave me a note behind If you plan on leaving Touch Touch Wither Hear the sound of running Over the Unabomber's tales.
9.
Orphan 03:39
10.
Avenues 03:00
A score of clouds above us A bustling city of caught-on fire Bless his heart, he found the desire to be understood, never could be the mire A field of grass between us A far off curtain of listless measure I do not seem to care when all they do is ask me if I’m trying at all Reaching for the sky is such a cliché I’d much rather be here on the ground Turning the way of those who’ve come before I’ll dance avenues in the rain A decade or more has passed us A chained-up peril of classless fame I cannot win the war when it goes under the door and you’re banging away wanting more Dreaming of something mindless and twisted Darkness comes by the light of day Burdening our every move like a crow on the prey for love, sacred love.

about

Evan Schafer Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

My name is Evan Schafer. I am an indie musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but the material always has a unique flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005. ... more
