Edge 05:13
It’s a cold world, stop and look at the signs It’s the renegade of the season, paralyzed It’s a young soul, you left too fast to be noticed It’s the pain you feel in the water, you are drowning Come off the edge It’s safer here, it’s safe in my arms Come off the ledge You’re loved like everyone wants you Come off the edge It’s painful but the story’s not over It’s a sharp blade, cutting over the soft flesh It’s a tight noose, around your neck you place it Thinking of the world, it’s hard to know your place Just a little more, just feed a little more ‘cause it’s hard to live with that face Lay down Lay in silence Lay down Lay in my arms.

Icy 03:14
The ice is melting, Catalina Right turn, wrong time Justify the spirit giver And fall right through the cracks The ice is broken, Catalina Spin, run, turn round, fly Justify your precious lover And dance till the keg runs dry The ice is water, Catalina Trays go back into the freezer Justify the holy rollers Insatiate the common man Test 1, 2, 3 - this is a message for all of you: Days go by, days go by The ice is melting, Catalina!!!
4.
What is “beautiful”? Sitting, strokes like Monet What is “beautiful”? Painting the earth with you What is “beautiful”? Beautiful is you What is “beautiful”? The colors in your eyes What is “beautiful”? Sitting on the dock of the bay What is “beautiful”? Your breath on my neck What is “beautiful”? The piercing stare of love What is “beautiful”? What is “beautiful”? Painting the earth with you.

Equal 02:12
Equal in the eyes of GOD You started dating ten years before A marketplace clamor A visual disaster going on in your mind Equal in the chlorine pool You drowned in there many moons ago Perishing lightly oh so scarcely Vanish onto the cauldron horizon Convention, I’ve got detention The retention of this information Is driving me into remission So come on, come on down.
6.
On the Roof 04:01
Consecrated, inundated with papers You took the train at 12 AM and you don’t know what your name is On the roof you said “I don’t want to be with you anymore” I took my time, I thought “Good lord, honey, you don’t know me like you should” You’re late for afternoon tea With the captain of two ships gone out to sea A considerable amount of overwashed and bashful incantations Spread it out so thinly it cannot breathe Levitating, it’s overrated Come perish in my presence Wait for me when you get over the hill And meet me on the roof Just meet me up on the roof You flirt with other men, it hurts, but I’ll get over it Catcher in the rye, stale bread, it spreads so thinly you cannot breathe Another day, another novel, another waking moment that you’re not there Not even the sisters of the callous vertebrae stir up the kind of shit that you do Cover me with everything that you see, it’s doubtful you’ll be The man I want you to be On the roof, on the roof.
7.
Still Life 05:08
Hang up the phone, it’s ringing so late Don’t matter who’s calling tonight If it’s your art dealer, well you can tell him That I hated that abstract work of art or work of crap, depends on who you talk to Cut me off the line I don’t want to hear your voice Otherwise I’m sitting alone in here Someone told me your still life turned out crappy Still life ... You, me, everyone we used to know is gathered here tonight for your still life I hang up the phone, you’ve lost all importance to me Cast another line and maybe you’ll catch a whore “Someday”’s gone and never returns And you smell like you could get a burn from the sun Once bitten, twice shy, third ... who really knows? All in all I’m sitting alone in here Someone told me, it’s not funny, but your still life turned out like shit.
8.
You think only of yourself You speak only for yourself The peril farther down a desolate road Blooms like a flower in spring You write only for yourself No more rhyme schemes for me Make love only for yourself That isn’t what makes love now, is it? Me, is it you In this life together? The storm has passed incubate and futile Wondering so slow across the skies It burns like fire You try to leave the two-step behind You worsen your case by thousands The young man searching for a timepiece Long gone in the grand scheme of things You turn away for things not theirs You give it a shot, a desperate plea Take the burns only for yourself That isn’t what will burn you, is it?
9.
Catapult the ostrich out the window Why don’t you give me that second chance we’re always talking about ‘Cause it sounds so good, it sounds so good when you play your guitar that way when you say that you love me Jerky kids on the playground tonight They light your car on fire and it smells like a sulfur bomb went off in here A tad bit of acetylene boxcar made out of your mother’s earwax It sounds like poetry It’s the echoes.
10.
Giuseppe made a friend down in little Brooklyn Called his mommy, trash the car for all the things he’s seeing Make a mess of all the trash cans and the confiscating “Oh Lord, I wish you weren’t talking and just masticating!” The tiny woman walks right on past the store front Collecting verses, masses, passes and the sound of your grunt Listen and you’ll find that music isn’t infinite A gesticulated lull that pulls and culls at your sight Gelling and selling your Psychotic impetus To underrated sharks in parks Your psychotic impetus is ... Giuseppe got in trouble with a police officer Called his daddy, makes amends for all the strict monikers A tad bit later he is down at the hospital for the mentally insane ... now figure that one out.

about

Evan Schafer Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

My name is Evan Schafer. I am an indie musician with a strong grounding in traditional composition, but the material always has a unique flair. I guarantee not being bored out of your gourd when turning on one of the records. I produce, mix, and engineer everything myself, and have done so since late 2005. ... more
